Netherlands: Tensions between Christians and Muslims in asylum centers

Show: false / Country: Europe /
Christians in asylum centers in The Netherlands have complained about intimidation from Muslim refugees, as reported by the NRC on 22 July 2015. In Sweden, there are also concerns over the safety of Christian asylum seekers, after a group of Christians was hounded out of immigrant housing, as Jihadwatch reported on the same day. Dennis Pastoor, persecution analyst for World Watch Research, says: "WWR has repeatedly stressed the issue of the treatment of Christians in refugee camps, who do not always feel safe there. Asylum centers, of course, cannot be compared to refugee camps, but they are not devoid from posing threats to vulnerable Christians. In 2013, an Iranian asylum seeker in The Netherlands was murdered under unclear circumstances. Some believe he was killed as a reprisal for his conversion to Christianity."
