United States: Christians were targets at Oregon shootings

Show: false / Country: Latin America /
On 2 October 2015, there was yet again another shooting in a college in the United States, which killed nine and wounded seven. The BBC reports that the gunman explicitly targeted Christians, asking his victims about their religious affiliation before shooting them. The killer"s motives are not yet known. Dennis, persecution analyst for World Watch Research, says: "Mass shootings are worryingly frequent in the United States. In 2015, there were 294 mass shootings in the country, of which 45 happened at schools.‚  In this latest incident, although the motives of the killer are still a mystery - as is the reason for the deliberate targeting of Christian students - it is clear that having a Christian identity can be a source of vulnerability not only in the Middle East, but also in Western countries."
